Publicist and reporter. He emigrated to Sweden in 1969. He studied the history of ideas. He is a prominent publicist and reporter of the largest Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter. In 1997, he publicised the issue of forced sterilisations carried out by the Swedish state between 1935 and 1976 on thousands of “unwanted” citizens. His texts resulted in the payment of damages in the amount of over 250 million kronas to the victims of forced sterilisations. His publications caused stormy debate on similar practices also in other Scandinavian countries, Switzerland, USA. This issue is discussed in his book “De rena och de andra” (“The Pure and the Others”, Polish edition entitled “Higieniści. Z dziejów eugeniki”, Czarne publishing house, 2011). He received numerous awards for his articles, such as Swedish Academy award (several times), Grand Prize for Journalism (for the “Polish Plumber” series or articles, Polish edition: 2008, Czarne publishing house and extended edition 2013, Agora). In the wake of his reportages on the Swedish forests entitled in Polish “Leśna mafia” (“Forest Mafia”, Agora, 2014), “Land” newspaper called him by voting “The King of the Forest”. His latest book “Huset med de två tornen” (“A House With Two Towers”) was published also in Poland by Karakter publishing house.
