He writes books for children and comic books. He is the author of Ja, Nina Szubur – an adaptation of Noble Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk’s Anna In w grobowcach świata. In Poland, the comic book was published in 2018. Its American translation is scheduled to be published 2021 by Uncivilized Books. Daniel Chmielewski is also the author of the comic book Podgląd, with illustrations by Marcin Podolec, published in Poland and France, as well as the drawer behind the short comic book The Last Novel of James Joyce written by Peter Milligan. With psychiatrist Katarzyna Szaulińska, he made the comic book Czarne fale dealing with the theme of depression, which was distributed at special workshops run in Polish schools. He teaches comic book storytelling in three community centres, draws storyboards for television, and makes visual aids for sport psychologists.
